Export Operator
Location: Christchurch Central, Canterbury

Salary: $75,000 – $90,000 per year

We’re looking for an experienced Export Operator to join a busy freight forwarding team in Christchurch. This is a hands-on role managing export shipments from booking through to final departure, while keeping customers, overseas agents and internal teams updated throughout the process.
What you’ll be doing:
Coordinating international export shipments across sea and air freight
Managing bookings with shipping lines and airlines
Preparing and checking export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists and bills of lading
Liaising with customers, overseas agents, carriers, transport providers and Customs
Monitoring shipment milestones and ensuring freight moves to schedule
Coordinating cartage, devanning and container movements where required
Entering and maintaining accurate shipment information within the freight forwarding system
Providing customers with updates and responding to export queries
Ensuring shipments are compliant with relevant Customs and carrier requirements
Assisting with invoicing and other administration associated with export files
What we’re looking for:
Previous experience in an export operations role within freight forwarding
Good understanding of international shipping processes and documentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments at once
Confident communicator who can build relationships with customers and suppliers
Experience using the CargoWise system is preferred
Organised, proactive and able to work to deadlines
A good understanding of Customs and MPI requirements would be advantageous
