Our client is a well-known Christchurch business seeking a capable and detail-oriented accounting professional to join its finance team on a part-time basis (20+ hours per week).

This opportunity would suit someone with a solid accounting background who is comfortable working with financial information, systems, and a range of internal stakeholders. Reporting to a senior member of the finance team, you will provide support across day-to-day accounting activities, reporting, and wider business requirements.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Raise and maintain capital projects, including reviewing supporting documentation and business cases.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, ensuring asset information is accurate and appropriately classified.
• Process asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Support month-end reporting across capital expenditure and fixed assets.
• Work with operational and project teams to gather financial information and assist with tax-related asset accounting.
• Support the Senior Asset Accountant with reporting, analysis, process improvements, and wider transactional finance activities.

About you

You will ideally have experience working within an infrastructure, construction, civil services, local government, utilities, facilities management, or other environment.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Good attention to detail and confidence working with large volumes of financial data
• The ability to work effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Strong Excel and financial systems capability
• Tax accounting experience would be beneficial but is not essential
• A relevant accounting qualification or progress toward one would be advantageous
