Location: Wellington Central, Wellington (Hybrid)

Job Type: Full time

Salary: Competitive salary + performance incentives + car

  • Drive new business and grow established customer accounts

  • Take ownership of your own regional territory

  • Join an established business with strong product support

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Territory Manager to take ownership of a defined region across the Central North Island.

This is a hands-on, relationship-driven sales role suited to someone who enjoys being out in the market, building strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities to grow an established territory.

You’ll work closely with plumbing merchants, installers, contractors and other key customers, helping to develop existing accounts while actively pursuing new business opportunities.

About the Role

As Territory Manager, you’ll be responsible for growing business across your region and becoming a trusted point of contact for your customers.

Your days will be varied, with a strong focus on customer engagement, business development and territory management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Growing existing customer accounts and developing new business opportunities.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with plumbing merchants, installers, contractors and key customers.

  • Regularly visiting customers throughout your territory and identifying opportunities for growth.

  • Managing sales opportunities from initial enquiry through to completion.

  • Supporting customers with product information, training and presentations.

  • Working collaboratively to deliver solutions that meet customer and project requirements.

  • Maintaining accurate customer, activity and opportunity information within the CRM.

  • Planning and managing your territory effectively to maximise customer engagement and sales opportunities.

  • Keeping up to date with market activity, customer requirements and opportunities within your region.

About You

We’re looking for a confident and commercially minded relationship builder who enjoys working with customers and taking ownership of their patch.

You may already be working in territory sales, account management or business development, or you could come from a plumbing, merchant or trade background and be ready to step into a more commercial role.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Experience within plumbing, plumbing merchants, construction or a related trade environment.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

  • A genuine interest in understanding customer needs and providing the right solutions.

  • A proactive approach to identifying and developing new business.

  • Strong organisation and the ability to independently manage a busy territory.

  • Commercial awareness and confidence working with a range of customers.

  • Good follow-through and a disciplined approach to customer management.

  • Confidence using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records.

  • A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence.

Sales experience is an advantage, but not essential. If you have strong industry knowledge, a customer-focused approach and the drive to develop your commercial skills, training and support will be provided.

What’s On Offer

This is an opportunity to join an established business and play an important role in growing its presence across the Central North Island.

You’ll be supported with the tools, training and resources you need to succeed, along with:

  • A varied and autonomous territory-based role.

  • Comprehensive product and sales training.

  • Company vehicle and tools of the trade.

  • Ongoing career development opportunities.

  • A collaborative and supportive working environment.

  • The opportunity to build and grow long-term customer relationships.

If you’re currently working in the plumbing, merchant, trade or construction sector and are ready to take the next step into a territory-focused commercial role, we’d love to hear from you. For a confidential discussion, contact Kelly Scammell at ••••@grahamconsulting.co.nz.
