About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Sales Engineer to take ownership of a South Island territory with an established business supplying specialist solutions into the civil construction, infrastructure, environmental and engineering sectors.

This role offers the opportunity to manage an established customer base while identifying new project opportunities and building long-term relationships with contractors, consultants, engineers, councils and asset owners. The product range supports critical infrastructure, drainage, erosion control, ground stabilisation and environmental projects throughout New Zealand.

With approximately six days on the road per month, split into two trips, this role provides a balance of customer-facing activity, territory management and home-based administration. You'll enjoy autonomy in your day-to-day work while being supported by a knowledgeable and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

Christchurch based, you’ll take responsibility for growing the South Island territory, developing customer relationships and providing technical solutions that meet the requirements of a wide range of civil and infrastructure projects.

  • Managing and developing relationships with an established customer base

  • Identifying and pursuing new business and project opportunities

  • Building relationships with contractors, consultants, engineers, councils and project stakeholders

  • Visiting customers and project sites to understand requirements and identify opportunities

  • Providing technical product advice and recommending appropriate solutions

  • Preparing quotations, proposals and pricing for projects

  • Working alongside internal technical and operational teams to deliver successful outcomes

  • Keeping up to date with upcoming infrastructure projects, market activity and industry trends

  • Managing your territory effectively and working towards agreed sales targets

About You

We’re looking for a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships and getting involved in technical projects. You may already have experience selling into the civil construction, infrastructure, engineering, industrial or technical product sectors, or you could be looking to move into a more technical sales environment from a related industry.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Proven B2B sales, account management or territory management experience

  • Experience or exposure to civil, infrastructure, construction, engineering or industrial environments

  • The ability to understand technical products and communicate solutions clearly

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach

  • Good organisation and time management skills

  • Confidence managing a geographic territory autonomously

  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills

  • A full, clean driver's licence
