Finance Manager - Professional Services

Location: Christchurch Central, Canterbury

Salary: $115,000 – $130,000 per year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function within an established professional services organisation.

About the Role

You’ll oversee the full finance function, ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting and effective day-to-day financial operations. Alongside the core accounting responsibilities, you’ll play an important role in improving systems, processes and reporting while providing commercial advice to the wider business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the finance team, providing clear direction and support

  • Overseeing month-end, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting

  • Managing cash flow, financial controls and overall financial governance

  • Providing commercial insights and partnering with senior leadership on business decisions

  • Overseeing financial performance across projects

  • Managing trust accounting requirements and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

  • Supporting AML compliance and broader financial risk management

  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting and increase efficiency

  • Supporting strategic projects, business growth and ongoing improvements across the organisation

About You

Ideally, you will bring:

  • CA/CPA qualification or equivalent

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role

  • Experience leading and developing a finance team

  • Professional services experience is highly desirable

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting

  • Working knowledge of AML requirements, is highly desirable

  • Experience across project accounting, including WIP, project costing and financial performance tracking

  • Excellent understanding of financial controls, compliance and governance

  • Strong systems and process improvement capability

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
