Finance Manager
Location: Christchurch Central, Canterbury

Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 pro rata

Our client is a growing Christchurch business looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of its finance function on a part-time basis.
Working closely with the CEO and wider leadership team, this is a broad, self-directed position combining hands-on financial management with commercial analysis and business support. You will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day finance function runs smoothly while also providing meaningful reporting, forecasting and insight to support decision-making as the business continues to grow.
The role offers genuine flexibility around when and where those hours are worked, including the ability to work from home.
Key responsibilities include:
Oversee AP, AR, credit control, GST, payroll, PAYE requirements and related compliance
Preparing accurate financial, management, and sales performance reporting
Managing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Maintaining strong financial controls, processes, and compliance standards
Monitoring cash flow, capex, treasury, and overall financial performance
Providing commercial insight to support operational and strategic decisions
Support customer and supplier agreements, renewals and wider commercial administration
Partner with the CEO on commercial initiatives, business improvement and strategic decision-making
About you:
We are looking for an experienced finance professional who brings strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and a practical leadership style.
You will ideally bring:
CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent practical experience
Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or senior finance role
Strong reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis skills
Sound understanding of payroll, compliance, cash flow, financial controls, and reporting obligations
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to add value across the wider business
