Senior Management Accountant
Location: Christchurch, Canterbury

Salary: $105,000 – $120,000 per year

Join a well-established organisation with a diverse portfolio of activities. This is a newly created, permanent part-time role (0.8 FTE) for a technically strong Chartered Accountant who enjoys owning the numbers, working with auditors, and turning financial information into clear decisions for senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, annual financial statements and audit workpapers for a regulated financial services entity
Coordinating the annual external audit and acting as the day-to-day contact for auditors
Supporting reporting on loan portfolios, liquidity and investments, and preparing concise papers for the board and governance committees
Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow projections across multiple entities and departments, partnering with budget holders on variance analysis and KPI reporting
Supporting financial modelling, budgeting and funding reporting for major capital projects
Improving systems, controls and close processes, and coordinating external accounting providers as work transitions in-house
Does this sound like you?
Chartered Accountant or CPA member with 5+ years' post-qualification experience in financial accounting, financial control or management accounting
Proven experience preparing annual financial statements and coordinating an external audit
Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis skills, with advanced Excel
Comfort working with ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy and control
Experience in financial services, lending or treasury, or board reporting would be highly regarded but is not essential.
Most importantly, you'll be someone with high integrity and discretion who is proactive, organised and enjoys getting involved. This is not a role where you'll be doing the same thing every day. With two portfolios, a major capital project on the horizon and processes still being shaped, there is plenty of scope to make the role your own and add value beyond a traditional management accounting position.
