Key Account Manager

Location: Christchurch Central, Canterbury

Job Type: Full time

Established customer portfolio | Construction & trade sector | Relationship-led sales

  • Own and grow an established portfolio of key construction customers

  • Build strong, long-term relationships across the trade and construction sector

  • Join a successful business with a strong market presence and quality products

About the Role

We are working with a well-established business supplying a broad range of tools and associated products to customers across the construction and trade sectors. They are looking for an experienced Key Account Manager to take ownership of an established portfolio of key customers and drive continued growth across the region.

This is very much a relationship-led sales role. You’ll spend plenty of time out with customers, understanding their businesses, upcoming projects and changing requirements, while ensuring they receive a high level of service and support.

With an existing customer base to work from, the opportunity is to strengthen relationships, identify areas for growth and increase the range of products supplied across individual accounts. You’ll also keep an eye out for new opportunities within the market and use your industry knowledge and networks to further develop the territory. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your customer portfolio while being part of an established business with a strong reputation in its market.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is commercially minded, comfortable working with trade and construction customers and genuinely enjoys building long-term business relationships.

 You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in Key Account Management, Account Management, Territory Sales or a similar B2B sales role

  • Experience selling tools or products into the construction, building or trade sectors

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • The confidence to deal with customers at a range of levels

  • A track record of developing and growing existing accounts

  • The ability to identify sales opportunities and turn them into commercial outcomes

  • Strong organisation and territory management skills

  • A proactive, practical and customer-focused approach

Industry knowledge will be valuable, but equally important will be your ability to build credibility with customers, understand their businesses and deliver on what you promise.

What’s in it for You?

  • Take ownership of an established and valuable customer portfolio

  • Genuine opportunity to grow accounts and make the territory your own

  • Work with a broad range of quality products used throughout the construction sector

  • Join an established and successful business with a strong market presence

  • Supportive team environment with the autonomy to manage your customer relationships

  • Long-term career opportunity within an established industry

If you have a strong background in account management or sales within the construction and trade market and are looking for a role where relationships and commercial growth go hand in hand, we’d like to hear from you.
