HR Advisor

Location: Christchurch Central, Canterbury

Job Type: Full time

Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 per year

We’re looking for a hands-on HR Advisor to join a busy and growing organisation. This is a varied role with a strong focus on employee relations, where you’ll work closely with managers to navigate everything from day-to-day people matters through to more complex performance and ER situations. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, working through the noise and helping managers find practical solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing day-to-day HR and employee relations advice across the organisation

  • Supporting managers through performance management, disciplinary and other ER processes

  • Managing and working through complex employee relations matters

  • Coaching and supporting leaders through difficult conversations

  • Building strong relationships with managers and becoming a trusted point of contact

  • Working across a range of teams and business units as required

  • Supporting managers with the development and performance of their teams

  • Assisting with workplace wellbeing initiatives and identifying ways to proactively reduce people-related issues

  • Supporting a growing organisation through change and increasing workforce demands

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced HR Advisor who is confident managing employee relations matters and enjoys the challenge that comes with working through complex people issues.

To be successful, you’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong, hands-on employee relations experience

  • Confidence managing performance and employment-related issues

  • Experience supporting and coaching managers

  • The ability to work autonomously and use sound judgement

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • The confidence to have difficult conversations and work through challenging situations

  • Experience within community services or another complex and highly regulated environment would be an advantage.
