Our client is a well-established New Zealand business operating within a fast-moving transport and logistics environment. With a strong operational footprint and a commitment to delivering reliable service, they are focused on continuing to strengthen their health and safety systems and building a proactive safety culture across the business.They are now seeking a hands-on Health & Safety Lead to take ownership of health, safety, wellbeing, and compliance across their operations.

This is a key role where you’ll partner closely with frontline teams, managers, contractors, and senior leadership to ensure risks are effectively managed, safety is embedded into everyday operations, and continuous improvement remains a priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the H&S strategy, systems, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Manage risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, and compliance requirements

  • Oversee audits, inspections, contractor management, training, and competency tracking

  • Build a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and visible leadership

  • Drive worker participation through H&S committees, toolbox talks, and consultation

  • Support wellbeing initiatives, fatigue management, emergency preparedness, and PPE compliance

  • Provide guidance to managers to ensure legislative obligations are met

About You

You’ll bring practical Health & Safety experience gained within an operational environment such as transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or a similar industry. You’ll be comfortable working with both frontline teams and senior stakeholders, with the ability to balance compliance requirements with practical business needs.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience managing risk, incidents, and investigations

  • Strong knowledge of H&S systems, audits, and legislative requirements

  • A Diploma in Health & Safety, NEBOSH qualification, or equivalent

  • The ability to interpret legislation and apply it in a practical way

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Confidence delivering training and facilitating safety conversations
